Article 15 box office collection Day 3: Ayushmann Khurrana film has golden weekend

Mumbai : Ayushmann Khurrana's latest hard-hitting film Article 15 is being loved by the audience. the film minted Rs 5.02 crore on the first day of its release. With audience thronging theatres to see Ayushmann play the role of a serious cop, Article 15 became the second-biggest opener of the actor's career.

Weekend gave a boost to the film's box office collection as it earned Rs 7.25 crore on its second day, Saturday, and it is expected to bag Rs 8 crore on the third day, Sunday, of its release.

Article 15 highlights the caste discrimination in the country through a fictional mix of various incidents. The film also shows light on 2014 Badaun gang rape and murder. The film is directed by Anubhav Sinha, who directed the 2018 film Mulk.

Overwhelmed with the film's performance, Ayushmann took to his Instagram account to thank critics and the audience for appreciating the film.

Article 15 has been hailed by the critics. India Today reviewer Lakshana Palat gave it 3.5 stars out of 5 and wrote, "Director Anubhav Sinha's craft lies in his subtle portrayals of the horrors that corrode the country from within. His sensitivity to such subjects shows when he depicts the evils that tear society apart. Like Mulk, Article 15 is an uncomfortable watch and makes you squirm when it shows you the caste discrimination in the country."
