New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Meenakshi Lekhi landed herself in a bit of an embarrassment when she misspelled the word 'Swachh' in Hindi during an event in New Delhi. Meenakshi Lekhi had gone to a programme by Indraprastha Gas Limited where instead of writing 'स्वच्छ भारत, स्वस्थ भारत', she ended up with 'सवच्छ भारत, सवस्थ भारत', drawing a lot of criticism from Twiterratis.
The picture of her writing on a board went viral on social media and in no time, people started retweeting it, even after Meenakshi Lekhi accepted her mistake and reportedly said that she would not repeat it in future. In a tweet, which was later deleted from her Twitter account, Meenakshi Lekhi reportedly wrote: Aapka nazariya hai, hindi ८ class ke baad padhi nahi hai phir bhi koshish karti rehti hu seekhne ki autocorrect ka samay hai shukriya aage se ye galti nahi hogi (This is your outlook, I didn't study Hindi after Class 8 still I am trying to learn. This is the time of autocorrect. Thank you. Will not repeat this mistake in future).
This has come as an embarrassment for Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has been leading a campaign called 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' for a clean India. Earlier in the day, Senior Cabinet Minister Radha Mohan Singh was caught urinating in public, a simple case of mocking Modi's Swachh Bharat campaign. The amazing part is he is one of the ministers who had also tweeted his pledge on his committed to the mission and had even asked others to join him.
