In 2014 elections , there were 230 candidates in the fray including 11 women and a turnout of 71.86 % was recorded . In 2014 the highest number of candidates in fray was 41 from Hisar and minimum was 14 from Ambala and Rohtak . This time the minimum number is 16 from Karnal , the city of present Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and the maximum is from Sonipat ,where the former Chief Minister Bhupender Singh Hooda is in the battle field .
As per the latest figures available from the election commission's voter turnout App till 7 PM , the constituency wise turnout is Ambala( 62.63%) , Bhiwani-Mahendergarh ( 64.37% ) , Hisar ( 67.07% ) , Rohtak ( 64.73% ) , Kurukshetra ( 67.51 % ) , Faridabad (58.68 % ) , Sirsa (67.24 % ) , Sonipat (65.03 % ) , Karnal (56.27 % ) and Gurgaon ( 58.63% ) . The highest percentage turnout is from Kurukshetra (67.51 %) and the lowest one from Karnal (56.27 %) constituency .
The interesting match is in Hisar constituency , where the three candidates from the major political dynasties are in fray . Dushyant Chautala (JJP ) is the great grandson of late Chaudhary Devi Lal , Bhavya Bishnoi ( Congress ) the grandson of late Chaudhary Bhajan Lal and Brijender Singh son of present union minister Birender Singh(BJP ) , a descendent of farmer leader of undivided Punjab late Chaudhary Chhotu Ram .
Former Chief Minister Bhupender Singh Hooda and his son , a three time MP , Deepender Singh are fighting for their political existence and supremacy in congress party from Sonipat and Rohtak constituencies . Union ministers of state Krishan Pal Gujjar BJP ( Faridabad ) and Rao Inderjet Singh BJP (Gurgaon ) are also trying their political fate . Other notable candidates are – Dharam Bir Singh sitting MP and Shruti Chaudhary , granddaughter of former CM of Haryana late Chaudhary Banshi Lal in neck to neck fight with JJP candidate Swati Yadav from Bhiwani –Mahendergarh constituency ; Nayab Singh Saini BJP , a minister in Haryana government, Nirmal Singh congress and Arjun Chautala (INLD), a great grandson of Chaudhary Devi Lal from Kurukshetra ; Kumari Sailja (CONGRESS), a four time Lok Sabha member and daughter of former union minister late Dalbir Singh, and sitting MP Rattan Lal Kataria(BJP) from Ambala .
Most of the BJP candidates are sailing in the name of Modi wave , whereas the congress candidates are using their personal background in addition to the party base. The strong hold for BJP seems on Kurukshetra , Faridabad , Gurgaon and Karnal seats , for congress on Sonipat , Rohtak and Ambala . On other three seats – Hisar , Bhiwani –Mahendergarh and Sirsa there is the tough fight and will decide the mood of Haryana for coming assembly elections going to be held in the end of 2019 .
