Indian women in UN: Anita Bhatia appointed as UN Deputy Executive Director

UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutteres appointed Anita Bhatia a veteran in strategic partnerships, resource mobilization and management as Deputy Executive Director in the global body's agency focused on women empowerment and gender equality.

Indian lady has considerable experience in the field of strategic partnerships, resource mobilization and management.

Having a discern career at the World Bank, serving in various senior leadership and management positions, both at headquarters and in the field, now is going to serve in UN.




She has Degree in Bachelor of Arts in History from Calcutta University and a Master Degree of Arts in Political Science from Yale University and a Juris Doctor in Law from Georgetown University.

Previously Laxmi Puri had served as Assistant Secretary-General of United Nations and Deputy Executive Director of UN Women. Laxmi Puri was veteran Indian diplomat and a gender equality champion.

Ms. Bhatia has also served as Director of Global Partnerships for the International Finance Corporation(IFC), the World Bank Group's private sector arm.

India feels proud of these ladies who are coming up within world and acheiving hights.
